Diane is a native of Scottsville, Kentucky. She graduated from Allen County High School and received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Campbellsville College in 1976. She was one of the first students to graduate from the Social Work Program at Campbellsville. After graduation she worked for Comprehensive Care, now LifeSkills, and helped in developing the pilot mental health program for the State ICF in Glasgow. Diane also worked in the private sector as the Social Services Director for Panorama/Res-Care, a 58 bed facility for children and adults with severe mental challenges. Her true passion has always been foster care and adoption and she spent a total of 26 years working with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services in primarily foster care centered cases. The last 9 years at the Cabinet were spent supervising a pure foster care team of social workers with an average of 150 children in foster care at any given time. Seeing our most vulnerable children be free from abuse and neglect and obtain permanency with either their biological families, relatives or adopted families is the greatest gift you can give a child, according to Diane.
After retiring from the Cabinet in 2008, moving to Charleston, South Carolina and then seeing the need to return to Kentucky for family in 2015, Diane went through the pre-service training to become a CASA Volunteer. The following year she joined Team CASA as an Advocate Coordinator. In 2018 Diane became a Senior Advocate Coordinator, as well as, being inducted into Phi Alpha-Delta Mu Chapter at Western Ky. University for her contributions to the field of Social Work. After retiring for the second time in August 2021 she remained an Advocate with CASA and has now rejoined the CASA staff as an Advocate Coordinator.
Diane is married to her husband of 38 years, Terry Eidson. They have one son, Robert Cole Eidson, two whacky English Springer Spaniels, a Cocker Spaniel with a very large personality and a huge rescue cat. In her spare time Diane enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, watching movies, shopping and traveling, especially to her beloved Isle of Palms beach in Charleston.
