Advocate Development Specialist

Ryan, Erica, Tara, Ethan & Natalie

I joined the staff of CASA of South Central KY as the Advocate Development Specialist in the summer of 2019.  In addition to working for CASA where I help recruit and train more Advocates, I was an Advocate myself.  I became active with CASA over 4 years ago when I went through the training program and became an Advocate.  This eventually led me to apply for a position on the CASA Staff.  Even though my CASA case as an Advocate is now closed, I carry the unique perspective I can share with potential Advocates from both the viewpoint of a staff member and as a former Advocate.

Prior to joining the team here, I have worked as a Designer for Morgan Smith Industries, as the Ticket Office Manager of SKyPAC, as the Executive Director of the Plaza Theatre in Glasgow, KY, as the President and CEO of the Capitol Arts Alliance / Capitol Theatre in Bowling Green, and for 12 years as a tenured Associate Professor of Theatre Design & Technology at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN, and an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN.  I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication from Iowa State University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatrical Design and Technology from the University of Memphis.

I am married to Dr. Sherry Jones, a Family Practice physician who manages a clinic in Columbia, KY.  Sherry and I have three children, Erica, Ethan, and Natalie and a son-in-law Ryan daughter-in-law, Tara.  We also have three dogs, Rueben, Piper, and Yoda as well as three cats, Aurica, Cheddar, and Griswald.

When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, traveling, and visiting art galleries and shows.  Additionally, I am very active in local and state politics.
